Award-winning actor latest Cherry Blossom VIP
The latest announced VIP guest at the 2018 Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival is Award Winning Actor Michael Dante, who will be receiving the Ella Dickey Literacy Award.
Actor Michael Dante was under contract to three major studios: MGM, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox. He has received the Golden Boot Award, the Silver Spur Award and the Southern California “Best of the Best” in the Performing Arts Award, just to name a few. Dante penned his autobiography, “Michael Dante — From Hollywood to Michael Dante Way,” in 2014 with stories about many of the 30 films and 150 television shows (including multiple appearances on “Perry Mason,” “Days of Our Lives” and “General Hospital”) in which he appeared. The narrative included his journey through Hollywood during the Golden Years, leading to a street named for him in his hometown of Stamford, Connecticut — Michael Dante Way.
Dante played the title role in the classic film “Winterhawk” and has completed the sequel, in book form, titled “Winterhawk’s Land.” It is a continuation of the saga of the legend of the Blackfoot Indian Chief, Winterhawk. The original film, “Winterhawk,” can be seen on YouTube now.
He became a good friend of western screen icon John Wayne during the last years of Wayne’s life, co-hosting several charity events with “The Duke.”
